Comme diraient mes enfants, courir, ‘c’est toute ma vie’ ! C’est ma passion.

Pour moi, une journée sans courir, c’est une journée de perdue … J’ai conscience que cela peut paraitre ridicule, ou immature, mais c’est comme ça que je le vis. Voilà à quel point j’aime courir, être dehors, au contact de la nature, du vent, du soleil, de la pluie. J’aime le côté minimaliste : une paire de basket, un short, et c’est parti pour arpenter les sentiers.

Enfant, j’étais absolument subjugué devant les images de marathon, d’iron Man, ou devant l’athlétisme. Une vraie fascination. La course m’appelait tellement fortement ! J’ai compris assez tôt qu’elle serait au cœur de ma vie.

J’ai commencé à courir à l’âge de 11-12 ans, avec mon père, au parc de la Tête d’Or : un tour de 4km  (C’est toujours une référence quand j’arrive à la fin d’un défi : allez, il reste plus que l’équivalent d’un petit tour de Parc, facile !). Mais voilà, rien de bien plus. Je ne sais toujours pas pourquoi, à cet âge, je me suis lancé dans les sports collectifs plutôt que d’aller là où mon cœur m’appelait …

A mon entrée dans la vie active, j’ai arrêté le sport. Ce fût une grave erreur. J’ai perdu mon équilibre, ma raison d’être. Je me suis enfoncé petit à petit (alcool, tabac, drogue, dépression, …) jusqu’à perdre entièrement le goût de vivre. C’est vers la trentaine qu’en reprenant les footings, j’ai recommencé à vraiment vivre. Et là, j’ai compris que courir serait vital pour moi.

J’ai fait un peu de compétition, en trail et ultra-trail, de 37 ans à 43 ans. Assez pour atteindre un très bon niveau et assez pour me rendre compte que ça ne me convenait pas : le stress de l’avant course, la foule, … J’aime courir seul, me confronter à moi-même sans aucune contrainte.

Depuis 2015, je cours pour le plaisir, de longues distances, de longues journées. Je me lance aussi des défis, je teste mes limites, mes capacités. Je cours plusieurs jours, parfois même plusieurs semaines, sur les plus beaux sentier de France. C’est comme ça que je me réalise, c’est comme ça que je réalise MON GRAND REVE.

C’est ainsi qu’est né ce que j’appelle le RUN-BIGGER. Cette discipline est la fusion du trail et de la randonnée minimaliste : sur de longues distances, courir léger toute la journée, bivouaquer, et recommencer !

Courir ainsi, plus grand, permet naturellement de devenir plus grand, plus fort, plus accompli en tant que personne.
